Manchester
Manchester is Britain’s third most visited city, with many coming to take in the rich football history. Be sure to read our post on visiting Manchester during football season from the hotel.info blog. In Manchester, football is not a sport but a way of life. Get yourself up to date on the history of the sport and the sights of the city before your next visit. Famous 2nd City of England Manchester is the UKs third largest City by population but in terms of fashion, music and business it is second only to London. Manchester is a large city with a population of over 2 million people. It caters for all tastes and offers a thriving university community and the “capital of the North” business centre. A depth of culture and history This city is steeped in history but also offers fantastic modern living too. The Manchester ship canals date back to the previous century and run through the centre of the town, often beneath the street level so are slightly hidden from view, but are definitely worth a stroll. The busy shopping centre and rich culture in the centre of town is amazing and should not be missed. Every kind of food in different parts of the city Manchester is almost definitely the best city in the UK (apart from London) for food and restaurants. There are complete districts devoted to a Chinese, Italian, Korean and Indian. The most famous being the world-renowned “curry mile” which features a 400m stretch of Manchester absolutely packed with top quality Indian restaurants. Nearly all the restaurants have large neon signs displaying their names that makes the stretch of the road look like Las Vegas at night. The pride of the North For the best in fashion and the latest trends you can do no better than Manchester that is home to some of the country’s top designers. The City has a large Art college and the area specializes in textiles and fashion and most students tend to remain in there after graduating to start their own clothes labels. The surrounding parks and hills Manchester is an industrial town and therefore is densely populated with large warehouse style buildings and lots of terraced dwellings. If you want to enjoy the country air its best to escape the centre and head south to the Peak District which is only a few miles away and stunning in terms of natural beauty and tranquility. Alternatively you could always try the small but cute surrounding villages such as Wilmslow and Knutsford that are famous for their footballers wives habitants. Both Manchester City FC and Manchester United FC have players who reside in these areas making them very desirable for the wealthy and well serviced by excellent restaurants and bars. Large nightclubs at affordable prices For a great night out you would find it hard to beat the amazing and dazzling night life Manchester has to offer. It is at least on a level with London for nightspots and probably even better if you consider the huge student population and average working person the clubs are budgeted for. If you like large, loud clubs open until the early hours then this is the place for you and it won’t cost you too much to dance the night away.
