Solden is a provincial picture of Alpine perfection. Nestled in a breath-taking beautiful past of the Austrian alpine mountain range, the village is famed for its cultural richness and staggering scenic surroundings. The glistening Rettenbach glacier provides endless hours of adrenaline fuelled adventure, offering snow smothered slopes and exhilarating elevations to enjoy. When the summer sun melts the snow with its rays, Solden transforms into a verdant vision of flower-filled pastures, glittering lakes and traditional mountain huts.
A wonderful wander that affords walkers both culture and natural splendour is the Lenzenalm Path, a trail that begins at one of Solden’s iconic bridges. Walk through majestic meadows while gently ascending verdant hills for a gentle walk that will reveal quaint churches and fascinating flora and fauna.
Another significant sight is certainly the Gaislachkogl Lift, a technological innovation that boats the title of the world’s largest double cable lift. Sturdy and sleek machinery transports courageous climbers from the ground to the glacier, allowing them to enjoy panoramic vistas from an altitude of almost 1,500m. A refined restaurant and picturesque sun terrace can also be enjoyed upon the summit whatever the season.
Many of Solden’s luxurious hotels boasts excellent eateries whose menus and wine lists are inspired by the bounteous produce available. A restaurant that never fails to disappoint with its tasty traditions is Hotel Bergland, a rustic and richly decorated restaurant whose signature speciality is undoubtedly their indulgent fondue, a bowl of melted cheese in which sizzling sausages and crusty pieces of bread are dipped.
