Relaxation, Sport and Culture in Upper Bavaria Tegernsee
Relax in the heilklimatischen Kurort „climatic health resort“ of Tegernsee – ideal after a stressful business trip. You can let yourself be pampered at the foot of the Alps, enjoyculture and scenery and marvel at the tourist attractions of the region. A short stray in the town canalso be combined with various sporting activities.
By Car to Tegernsee
By car is an ideal way to reach the town- via the B 307, South of the A 8. It is approx. 50 kilometres from the state capital Munich and the airport. Bus lines travel to the neighbouring municipal areas and tourist centres. The Tegernsee train from and to Munich, which runs several times per hour, is also an option.
Wellness, History and Hiking
In the monte mare Seesauna, you can relax in a unique atmosphere. What was a former training ship, the \"Irmingard\", has been converted into a floating sauna landscape. There isalso a sauna garden, massage rooms and four different saunas on offer here.
Equally the Kloster Tegernsee is to be recommended. It was built in the 8thCentury and the monastery made an important contribution to the cultivation of the region. Today it is a castle and it houses a grammar school and a brewery as well as an impressive Schlossgarten “castle garden”.
Furthermore, we recommend the many Kapellen „chapels“around the town. Another interesting aspect are the former residential homes of authors on the Leeberg, which is called \"Literatenhügel\" “writer ́s hill”. In order to hike there, there are over 300 kilometres of signposted hiking routes around the Tegernsee.
From Hunting and Singing
In the Heimatmuseum „museum of local history“ you will learn interesting information about the history of the region by means of the many exhibits and the alternating exhibitions. A particular focus is placed on the hunting culture. Entrance to the authentic hunting room from the 19th Century is free of charge.
You will experience even more culture with a performance of the Volkstheaters “popular theatre” or a Volksmusikabend “folk music evening”. You should get information about the dates beforehand with the event calendar.
After an eventful day, we recommend the Restaurant \"Senger\" in the hotel \"Das Tegernsee\". It is only a few years old but it offers first-class regional delicacies à la carte, Bavarian hospitality, live music and a beer garden. A three-course menu without drinks costs around 50 euros.
