Bad Münstereifel – A Shopping-Experience in the Idyllic Half-Timbered Houses
Situated 65 Kilometers South West of Cologne, Bad Münstereifel presents itself as a charming medieval town in the middle of the Eifel Forest. The Kneippheilbad „Kneipp Spa“ is a popular holiday destination in the local recreation area of the metropolitan region Cologne-Bonn and the residence of the German singer, Heino. Since August 2014, the first urban outlet store in Germany was established here.
A Stone´s Throw away from Cologne and Bonn
The location is reachable by car via the Eifel motorway A1 and the B51 from Cologne in nearly an hour and from Bonn over land, it takes approx. 45 minutes to reach. There is a local transport connection to the railway junction of Euskirchen both via the Erfttalbahn as well as via the bus lines that run on a regular basis. The town area of Münstereifel can be explored on foot without any problems.
Brand Outlet meets with Historical Architecture
The historical town centre, with its many lovely buildings of historic importance- which incidentally also date from the Roman times! - is bordered to the East by the almost entirely preserved Town Wall.
In the summer of 2014, the first urban outlet store in Germany was opened in the old-town. Since then, around 30 brand shops are to be found alongside one another and this is called the City Outlet Bad Münstereifel in the pedestrian zone.
You are then beckoned to come and relax after your shopping trip at one of the many restaurants on the waterfront of the River Erft that ripples through the town.
Lovely Feiluftmuseum „Outdoor Museum“ with a Reputation for Music
The whole town gives you the impression of being a museum with its diverse historical architecture. Furthermore, culture vultures can of course visit some real museums, amongst those is the Apotheken-Museum which has its own special charm.
The classical Konzerte am Wallgraben take place every 30 years and they enjoy an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of the town.
Overnight Stays and Feasting in the Kurpark
As an excursion site, Bad Münstereifel has several hotels and guest houses. TheKurhaus-Hotel which is located in the old Kurgarten, also houses a restaurant as well as the favourite cafe of the resident singer Heino. The Master Chef Patrick Örtel presents you with a small, well organised menu with fresh dishes using regional ingredients and it is in the medium price range.
